First Dental Visit

Ella had her very first dental check up today. I was really nervous that she would do awful and cry the whole time, but she shocked Josh and I both. She did really good!

Not sure about this ;)

All finished! Dr Bittle said she might have a little crowding issue when she get's older but other than that her teeth look great!
Ella was excited about her toy's she got for being so good:)

And just for fun here is a picture from when Brax first went to the dentist

  1. Being scared is normal among children like Brax when they visit their dentist the first time. Nevertheless, the dentist must do something to divert the child's attention like playing some children song or telling a fairy tale story while doing his check up - these work very well, actually. Anyway, in time, your child will learn, Mary. :) She looks smart.

  2. Aside from diverting her attention, the dentist can also explain the procedure in a way that she can easily comprehend. For example, you can use drawings to illustrate the procedure or use dolls or dummies to reenact it. Having a comfort object (i.e. her favorite doll or blanket) near her will help her feel secure as well.

  3. Aww, Ella is just adorable! You know, the first trip to the dentist is always a big deal, as this would determine how the child perceives dental care. Making it a positive experience is a team effort, so I’m glad that you showed her your support. May this be the start to the path of healthy teeth!

  4. Good job, Ella, for being so nice! It’s great that the dentist did not find any cavities on her teeth! That should be added incentive for you guys to be more vigilant in taking care of her teeth: to keep them looking beautiful and healthy. Never miss a dental appointment. Those things will help a lot in the development of healthy permanent teeth.
